Visiting Hagar

At Hagar, we are passionate about sharing our work with dedicated partners, donors and supporters. A rewarding and life-changing visit to Hagar requires plenty of planning and consideration. The following are a few guidelines to follow that will ensure your time at Hagar is one that exceeds your expectations.

1. Visitor's Request Form
A visit to Hagar begins with our Visitor Request Form. We require at least four weeks advance notice to arrange a visit to our programs. Please understand that sometimes circumstances (national holidays, scheduling conflicts, blackout dates, etc.) prevent us from hosting visitors. Once we receive your visitor request form, you can expect a reply from us within three business days.

2. Criminal Background Check
The women and children who come to Hagar have all experienced trauma and human rights abuse. Our first priority is to protect them and ensure their safety and well-being. For this reason, Hagar requires each visitor to produce a criminal background check from their home country. In addition to this, everyone, regardless of age, gender, or country of origin, who requests a visit to Hagar's programs, must read and sign our Client Protection Policy and Visitor Behaviour Protocol.

3. Confirmation
Once a visit has been approved by the Program Office Country Leader, Hagar staff will work with you to schedule and plan your visit.

4. Visitor Donation
Hagar requests that visitors make a donation to the organisation to help cover the time and human resource costs associated with planning and facilitating your visit.

5. Visitor Blackout Dates
Please note that Hagar Program Offices may institute visitor blackout periods.  Please check each respective Program Office website for further information.
