Pursuing Justice

"We see that its good to have a place where the criminal can be prosecuted.  For one girl who was raped, she thinks that no one knows and no one will help her and she thinks that no one will do anything about it now.  And she saw the judge value her testimony and so she starts to value herself.  Even though her life was ver traumatic, she feels like everyone really supports and understands her."

-Hagar Counselor-

Pursuing justice is at the core of who Hagar is. For every woman and child who enters our care, Hagar will provide legal support if they choose to seek justice through the Cambodian courts for crimes committed against them.

Throughout 2008, Hagar supported more than 60 women and girls who were involved in active court cases.

"It is very important for girls who have faced trauma, that we can explain what these criminals have done and not let these criminals mistreat other girls," says one young girl in Hagar's Aftercare Program for Trafficked Girls.

Hagar prepares women and children to testify through role plays, counseling, and other supports.
