Approximately 40% of women who come to Hagar have been trafficked for sex. It is a startling number, but reflects the continued trend of human trafficking for sexual exploitation in Southeast Asia.
According to the annual Trafficking In Person's Report by the US Department of State, Cambodia is a Tier 2 Country, still requiring further action to end human trafficking.
Hagar has been caring for trafficked women since 2002. Often extremely traumatized, they require specialized services and even longer term care.
Hagar's is commited to the recovery and reintegration of women who have been trafficked, through quality programming, social entrepreneurship, and long-term follow up. All of these pieces combined is what builds resilience and strength and enables women to reintegrate into community with dignity.

~Providing assistance and specialized training and support to shelters in the Cambodian border town of Poipet, known for its cross border trade of goods and people.
~Referring Cambodian women repatriated from Thailand to Hagar's recovery services in Phnom Penh for more comprehensive services.
